Meir Barak is a professional trader and CEO of Tradenet, an internationally-renowned trading school which he established in 2004. Prior to becoming an independent trader, Meir was an entrepreneur for several startups in the field of communications and IT. Tradenet has now become one of the largest trader training schools in the world, featuring branches in many countries and over 30,000 students who have enjoyed and benefitted from its rich information and knowledge. Meir Barak is a frequent television guest expert on financial affairs and market analysis. He is also a much sought-after lecturer in the field of trading and self-empowerment. Meir is married with three daughters. He divides his time between independent trading from his home and lecturing internationally.

Negative reviewer misunderstood the intended audience for this book

I have recently finished reading The Market Whisperer and am now reading it again as there is a lot of valuable information in here which cannot be fully absorbed the first time around. It bothers me that the most helpful review of this book is written by a person who completely misunderstood the intended audience of this book. He calls the book "terrible" and recommends instead Jesse Stine or Mark Minervini. The thing is those authors are writing very different types of books than this author Mr. Barak.

In The Market Whisperer, Mr. Barak tells us briefly his life story, how he became a successful day trader and takes the reader step-by-step into the world of day trading - a practical guide of how to do it. The negative reviewer did not like the background that forms the first part of the book but I found this very interesting and if one is going to buy or sell stocks it does not hurt to know the basics and history instead of living in ignorance (for example what the difference is between the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq). The reviewer also did not appreciate the explanations of trading strategy and indicators. However the intended audience is likely not familiar with these strategies and indicators and therefore are important to know.

I particularly liked the emphasis in the book on the 'psychology' of the market (understanding why price is going up or down - human emotions relating to fear and greed and how to take advantage of other traders panic) and the last part of the book about the psychology of trading - how to overcome mental obstacles, stick with it and succeed.

In summary: this book is a guide to day trading where the author takes you through step-by-step from the background of financial markets, to the trading platforms, charts and candle formations, trading strategies, financial indicators, various aspects of the stock market indexes and sectors and psychology of the market and the individual trader. This book is NOT about choosing stocks according to fundamentals (as does Peter Lynch, etc.) but rather how to identify opportunities and make money trading stocks.

That is a fantastic book. I have traded the markets for years and found this book quite entertaining and informational. There is no panacea or trading secrets revealed in this book, only very interesting insights on how to trade the markets. Read it twice in a row.

I can appreciate someone with integrity who tells it like it is

Trading can often be confusing for any new beginner on the journey. Often courses, books, and gurus purposely give bite size information just to keep you coming back. As a neophyte on the never-ending journey, I did not know where to start. There is just so much out there on trading: books, online videos, gurus who don't trade but proclaim to have magic bullet system. In The Market Whisperer, Mr. Barak keeps it very intimate with the reader. I can recall reading: "My job is simple as a trader to take money from your account and put it into my account." That is a eye-stopping and appalling statement. It helped me to keep things in proper perspective. I can appreciate someone with integrity who tells it like it is.

The Market Whisperer has pretty much everything packed in it to make you grounded. You will get a better flavor of trading psychology. Simply put, Mr. Barak does not waste your time with fluff and stuff. It is straight-forward with what you need to know, nothing more and nothing less. As the book is called The Market Whisperer, he is whispering in our ears that trading does not have to be so difficult. I am also whispering to you to begin your great and mighty walk of trading with this thought-worthy guidance. Happy trading to you!

The single best history of the US suffrage movement

This recent paperback edition of Century of Struggle, Eleanor Flexner's classic history of women's suffrage and the work to expand women's rights, has a splendid new introduction by her friend and collaborator Ellen Fitzpatrick, who relates the major events in Flexner's own life to Flexner's deep understanding of the complex social and political problem confronting 19th- and early 20th-century American suffragists. There is no better account than Flexner's of the dogged determination of US women to achieve their political aims, or of the genius of their political inventiveness in a time in which both law and custom were against women's full participation in civic life. The achievement of the vote for women was extraordinarily difficult, infinitely more so than most people realize. In her own preface to Century of Struggle, Eleanor Flexner quotes from Carrie Chapman Catt and Nettie Rogers Schuler: "Hundreds of women gave the accumulated possibilities of an entire lifetime, thousands gave years of their lives, hundreds of thousands gave constant interest and such aid as they could. It was a continuous, seemingly endless chain of activity. Young suffragists who helped forge the last links in that chain were not born when it began. Old suffragists who forged the first links were dead when it ended . . . It is doubtful if any man, even among suffrage men, ever realized what the suffrage struggle came to mean to women before the end was allowed in America."

Great history of American Women

This new edition of Flexner's Century of Struggle is excellent. She covers American woman's history since the beginning of American colonization up until the 1970s. She touches on the development of woman's education, job occupation, and political awareness through their activities in abolition. I recommend this book to every American. This book covers many missing holes in our male dominated histories.

About the Author
Catherine Westbrook is a Senior Lecturer and MRI Field Leader at Anglia Polytechnic University, Cambridge, UK and external examiner, lecturer and advisor on several other postgraduate courses in MRI around the world. In the past, Cathy has been President of the British Association of MR Radiographers, Honorary Secretary of the British Institute of Radiology and Chairperson of the Consortium for the Accreditation of Clinical MR Education.

Carolyn Kaut Roth is the Director of MRI Internship Programs & Continuing Education for Technologists at the University of Pennsylvania Health Systems, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. In the past, Carolyn has served as President of the Section for Magnetic Resonance Technologists (SMRT), and is currently a Fellow of SMRT. She has lectured around the world and has published numerous books, articles and papers on the topic of MRI. Carolyn is also the CEO of Imaging Education Associates (IEA), a company that develops and produces computer-based education modules and educational curricula for radiographers & educators.

John Talbot is a Senior Lecturer at Anglia Polytechnic University, Cambridge UK and a leader in the development and production of e-learning materials. As well as lecturing MRI around the world, John is a gifted illustrator and his vision has been central to the re-shaping of the figures in the book.

MRI Bible

When I was training at the University of Pennsylvania this book was known as our "Bible". In short, it comprehensivly covers MRI from Atoms to Zipper artifacts. The book can be a little technical at times but unfortunatly, that's MRI for you. It does a great job at explaining the basic concepts of MRI and then building on those ideas to explain the more complex ones (K-Space headaches anyone?). A must for any technologist serious about passing their boards or reviewing MRI physics and implimentation.
