As a Rotating Med Student

I ordered this book when I was doing various rotations in Neurosurgery as a med student...and I definitely recommend if you're in a similar situation. I found that many NS books sort of skipped basics of imaging, neuronavigation, relevant neurophysiology...but this one didn't. I think the authors did an excellent job of taking the "big picture" of many concepts and providing a concise, but complete outline. Sure, this book isn't the SINGLE BEST in the world for detailed neuroanatomy...or surgical techniques...or any ONE thing in particular, but it wasn't designed to. If you are an aspiring Neurosurgeon, or someone in the medical field interested in Neurosurg at all, this is a great book to help piecing the complex world of neurosurgery together.

Despite the misleading product information, this book is well worth a little extra shipping to get it. In fact, since its original publication, Allen Carr's Easy Way to Stop Smoking has sold over two MILLION copies in its original English language, placing it alongside the world's most successful best-sellers.
Since Allen Carr wrote The Easy Way to Stop Smoking, there have been many inferior copies - people who have just added an extra little twist here, or a shake there. Essentially, they are all admitting that Carr's system works. They are all bowing to the master who, over twenty years ago, realized that the addiction to cigarettes was as easy to stop as making the decision to have dinner... as long as you understand why it was never that easy before. Essentially, Carr points out that all that is stopping us is our FEAR of stopping - our FEAR that we're going to spend the rest of our lives craving a cigarette. He bunks the myth, then helps us face the decision to quit.
AND IT WORKS (this from someone on three packs a day for the last 35 years!). Why am I so sure I've got it beat this time? Because I'm not struggling with a will-power problem (there's very little will-power involved), I'm not missing my old habit (there's nothing worth missing), and I'm not snacking to find a substitute (no substitutes are allowed - or needed).

dull white and almost see-through

This book is exactly as it says, the princesses. There's various shots of all the princesses (about 3 of each), mostly not from their movies exactly but in situations they'd encounter in daily life. The lines are all in pink instead of black, but (as per the photo) with decent colouring this is not an issue. Each page includes a small caption about the princess photographed but it is not presented as a story book. The paper is thin, dull white and almost see-through. It takes well to coloured pencils and crayons, but I would caution against other media. The book is very small, but it does come with 31 images to colour and all in all I would recommend this to adults and children that are fans of the Disney characters.

I am a huge fan of Disney and my daughter loves to color so I was excited for this. I am seriously disappointed as this book is so small! The other books I've ordered like this have a good number of pages but this one was definitely disappointing.

My daughter was very happy with this coloring book. Liked the fact that it wasn't huge as we were taking it on a plane and wanted a light weight book for our carry on bag.

Chapters familiarize students with modeling and developing mathematical expressions based on the analysis of a control volume, the derivation of the governing differential equations, and the solution to those equations with appropriate boundary conditions.

Part II builds on the diffusive transport balance equation by introducing convective transport terms, focusing on partial, rather than ordinary, differential equations. The text describes paring down the microscopic equations to simplify the models and solve problems, and it introduces macroscopic versions of the balance equations for when the microscopic approach fails or is too cumbersome. The text discusses the momentum, Bernoulli, energy, and species continuity equations, including a brief description of how these equations are applied to heat exchangers, continuous contactors, and chemical reactors. The book also introduces the three fundamental transport coefficients: the friction factor, the heat transfer coefficient, and the mass transfer coefficient in the context of boundary layer theory. The final chapter covers the basics of radiative heat transfer, including concepts such as blackbodies, graybodies, radiation shields, and enclosures. The third edition incorporates many changes to the material and includes updated discussions and examples and more than 70 new homework problems.

About the Author

Joel L. Plawsky received his BS in chemical engineering from the University of Michigan and his MSCEP and ScD in chemical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. After graduation, Joel worked for Corning Inc. in its research division before returning to academia at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is currently a professor of chemical engineering in the Howard P. Isermann Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering. Joel was a NASA Faculty Fellow in 1999 and 2000 and has had four experiments fly in the microgravity environment of the Space Shuttle and the International Space Station. He is a fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers where he has served as the chairman of the Transport and Energy Processes Division and has received the Institute’s Herbie Epstein Award. Joel serves on the editorial board of Chemical Engineering Communications and is the holder of five patents.

Jerry C. Whitaker is a well-known author in the field of video, television, HDTV, and radio. He is also the author of The DTV Handbook, The Standard Handbook of Broadcast Engineering, and The Electronics Handbook, as well as other standard references. Mr. Whitaker is a Fellow of the Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE) and of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE). He has also served as Vice President and Board member of the SBE. Mr. Whitaker is Vice President for Standards Development at the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC), the international organization charged with developing voluntary standards for digital television. He resides in Morgan Hill, California.

If you are a serious Baja surfer of the past two or three decades, you've probably relied on a hodgepodge of information, including: The Surf Report (now Surfer Magazine Travel Guides), Surfline, nautical charts, AAA maps, Google Earth, and assorted actual exploration, legends, lies and myths to score waves in Baja. This book is the best amalgamation of that data we've seen yet.

While we've only made one quick Baja trip since buying the guide, it was pored over from the backseat of our vehicle for hours at a time by Baja veterans of 100+ excursions, and found to have a lot of great and correct information, with few serious errors. Truthfully, this is about as good as you can get for this wonderful, low population, high surf part of the planet.

So, if you are a veteran, looking for the best in collated Baja gouge, this is it.

Need an example? Here's an easy, interesting one. The campground at K58, with the big sign that has read Alisitos for at least 17 years is also known as La Fonda. Maybe you knew that, or maybe you've been wondering where the hell this mythical beach break called La Fonda is -- is it like Blacks at Torrey Pines? La Fonda is, indeed, the southern end of Alisitos.

You may be wondering if the guide is similarly good for inexperienced Baja surfers. Best $20 you'll spend! Your alternative is 20 years in a labor of love putting together mismatched data points.

And, if you're a Baja road tripper? Not a surfer, but a camper, fisherman, etc? Probably not for you -- it is a true "Surfer's Guide". Many thanks to Mike Parise, the author, for staying the course and focusing on our limited, but highly detail-oriented audience.

What could be better? Other than more break-specific details (e.g. "Slopey, fun right point with occasional steep barrelly lefts, usually working best on a tide push and solid SW swell of over 4 feet, rarely on a NW unless over 10. If swell is too small, beachbreak just north of point always has something. Usual paddle out is from the keyhole in the reef just south of the big bird-s*** covered rock"), not much.

Thankfully, Mike has left a lot of this up to us, and one surfer to another, that may be the only thing keeping a bunch of jetski-towing, meth-head, knuckleheads from showing up at your favorite spot mid-swell.
